Game Day Apple Jalapeno Wings Recipe

rec_jalapenowings

I had not experienced wings until I moved to the east coast.  Drinking and football were foreign to me too. As I learned to fit in, I discovered how much fun game day could be. It all centered around the Philadelphia Eagles game. Everyone and I mean everyone got into the fun. People and pets wearing cheese-steak hats was a common scene. Pizza Pies, cheese-steaks, and wings were the most popular choice among the Philadelphia fans.

Today I live in New England Patriots country but root for the New York Jets. It seems like a different world. I decided I would make my own wings. This Apple Jalapeno recipe  sounded perfect. A perfect mix of sweet and spicy. It brought me back to those days we I rooted for the Eagles and partied with their fans.

Ingredients:

1 cup Stonewall Kitchen Apple Jalapeño Jelly
1/2 cup water
1/4-1/2 cup Bourbon
2 Tablespoons butter
2 pounds chicken wings

Directions:

In a food processor, puree the Apple Jalapeño Jelly.

In a large skillet place the Apple Jalapeño Jelly, water, Bourbon, and butter over medium heat. When melted stir until uniform.

Add the chicken wings. Cover and simmer 15 minutes. Remove lid and simmer another 30 minutes, turning the wings several times. The sauce should thicken, but do not allow to burn.
Remove wings and finish under the broiler until golden brown. Serve hot with reserved sauce from skillet.
