life makeover


Stress and anxiety and been slowly taking over my life. I go to the doctor’s and they give me more pills. I do not want to live my life being a pharmaceutical pin cushion. I need to tackle the cause of my stress and anxiety.  This post will be about one of the steps I am taking to achieve this goal. Today I am talking about my walking routine.

I had physical recently. Since I had a landmark birthday in December, there are added tests you need to have done. One of these tests was the bone density test. I was shocked to hear that I have osteoporosis in my 40s! I couldn’t understand why I was shrinking. Recently I have started to notice pains in my hips, shoulders, and spine. They found compress fractures on my spine, one of them considered severe. This situation has caused me a lot of stress and a lot of worrying.

Until I get treated for this condition, I was told that walking is the only exercise I can do for now.

I used my “Health” app on my iPhone to track my progress. The first two days, I walked  a mile. I was in great pain but I made a point to get up and walk every day. When the weather was bad, I rode my recumbent bike. within a week, I started to notice that I wasn’t walking up to anxiety attacks. I was sleeping better and I had more energy. My aches and pain is lessened and my clothes are a little looser too.

I feel motivated by tracking my progress. It is the single best motivator I have found to work. Of course, my clothes fitting better also inspires me to walk every day.

Here we are again. Another year has flown by. As I get older, I am finding that time seems to fly by at a faster rate of speed. When we are younger, doesn’t seem like Christmas or summer break is so far away? High school seems to take a lifetime to finish. You get the idea.

You may or may not have noticed that I have not posted in a while.  From family issues to website fails, getting back on track has been a struggle. In my welcome message, I mentioned I am going to start a new series called, A New Year, A New You for 2016. This is my attempt to re-start my Life Makeover Series all over again.  I have accomplished goals but I just did not document them like I should have. I will post what I achieved in 2015 and what I want to carry out in 2016.

I want to become more personal with you. I like what I have done with my blog but I would like to make changes. This means I need to open up about myself and hopefully connect with some like-minded people. I am a hermit by nature. That is something I would like to change in 2016.

When I read blogs or watch vloggers, the one thing I look for is reliability.  It is fun to watch the “beautiful people” go on endless shopping sprees or first class vacations but at the end of the day, I cannot relate to this lifestyle. I see so much resentment towards people “who have it all”. Let’s face it, to be successful in social media/blogging it certainly helps to be rich, attractive and thin. The world rewards people “who have it all”. I prefer to give my time and attention to the rags to riches success stories or people who are actively working towards goals. I plan on showing you my favorite bloggers/vloggers as an upcoming feature.

A better night sleep tips

Getting a good night’s sleep has been an ongoing effort for a long time. Without a good night’s sleep (for me 6-8 hours) I just drag all day. When I get do get the my required sleep, I feel like a million bucks. Over the past six months I have been able to get a good night’s sleep by using the following supplements, creating a nightly routine and using sleep apps.  I will link my prior entries and update when I have discovered something new.
